Cooking and Adulting: Vegetable Soup

We teamed up with our friends at Imperfect for some more basic adulting: making soup. We made a basic vegetable soup while talking about our go-to cold weather meals, tips for cutting onions without crying, and soup for breakfast.

How to Make Vegetable Soup

The great thing about vegetable soup is that it can work with whatever vegetables you have on hand and can be customized based on what you like. We used produce from our Imperfect produce box to make our super easy soup:


  • Onion
  • Garlic
  • Carrot
  • Bell Pepper
  • Potato
  • Olive Oil
  • Vegetable Broth
  • Salt and Pepper


  1. Chop veggies
  2. Heat oil in a pot
  3. Add onion and garlic to pot
  4. Cook for 2 minutes
  5. Add the rest of your veggies
  6. Cook for 6 minutes 
  7. Add vegetable stock
  8. Cook until veggies are the consistency you like!

If you're making a potato soup, use the immersion blender to blend your soup after it's done cooking!

If you're making a chicken noodle soup, add noodles instead of the potato and add some cooked chicken at the end.
