Our Favorite Skincare Products for Dry, Itchy Winter Skin

By Elizabeth Villa

Raise your hand if your skin gets way too dry and itchy in the winter. SAME. In fact, my dry and itchy skin is practically a running joke to everyone who gets close enough to notice my discomfort.

This year I decided it was finally time to stop scratching and start problem solving.

First I asked the internet why I'm so itchy. I found out that in addition to the dry air, hot showers, hot drinks, and being inside with the heater on are also reasons skin gets extra dry and itchy during the winter. No wonder.

Next I asked the internet (and my product recommending genius of a sister) for some advice that didn't require me to give up my favorite winter things. I ended up with a list products that are supposed to help prevent and treat dry, itchy skin. I started using them and my skin is loving me for it.

1. Palmer's Coconut Oil Body Lotion

When dealing with dry and itchy skin, a go-to moisturizing body lotion is a must. I'm a big fan of Palmer's Coconut Oil Body Lotion. It uses ethically and sustainably sourced coconut oil along with other raw, natural ingredients that make my body feel oh so good.

2. Yes to Coconut Polishing Body Scrub

Exfoliation is an important part of your winter skin routine because it replenishes your skin and improves the effectiveness of moisturizers. I recommend keeping a body scrub like Yes to Coconut Polishing Body Scrub in your shower so you don't forget!

3. L'Oreal Professional Mythic Nourishing Oil

Keep your hair nourished during winter weather with the help of oils like my favorite L'Oreal Professional Mythic Nourishing Oil. Plus, it controls fizz while it's repairing split ends.

4. Dry Skin Body Brush

Using a dry skin body brush is another way to exfoliate your dry skin. Compared to the wet methods, dry brushing can be more effective and less messy. If you're trying it out for the first time, dermatologists recommend only dry brushing healthy, unbroken skin and applying a moisturizer after you're done.

5. SheaMoisture 100% Virgin Coconut Oil Daily Hydration Face Lotion

Now that your body is all lotioned up, don't forget about your face! SheaMoisture's Daily Hydration Face Lotion is a light-weight moisturizer that hydrates and nourishes the skin while keeping it pretty clean.

6. Aquaphor Lip Repair Tube Blister Card

Keep a lip treatment you love like Aquaphor's Lip Repair on hand to relieve your dry and chapped lips. I keep one in every bag, my car, and by my bed just in case.

7. e.l.f. Lip Exfoliator

Another way to deal with chapped lips is to remove the dry skin by using a lip exfoliator like e.l.f. Lip Exfoliator. Who knew?

8. Josie Maran 100% Pure Argan Oil

Argan oil like Josie Maran's 100% Pure Argan Oil is a non-greasy and non-irritating oil that will hydrate and soften your skin. Try it by massaging a few drops on your face after you wash it.
